SWANWICK – From comments received international and the five regions of WAGGGS are now firmly established in our members’ minds as are details of the world religions. For those members who attended do please keep up the momentum and enthusiasm as the progress made is essential to future international events and activities. The answers to the QUIZ will be in the next issue of the TG magazine.
ISGF – Just to remind members that we can now join the ASA if we wish to keep in contact with ISGF and their activities. ASA website address is www.ukasa.org.uk or the membership secretary Mrs Beryl Aldridge at beryl.aldridge@ntlworld.com
The 25th WESTERN EUROPE SUB-REGIONAL GATHERING OF ISGF will be held in Cork from 24th – 28th September 2012. For further details please contact The Irish Trefoil Guild, c/o Girl Guides, 1 Lower Road, Cork City, Republic of Ireland.
SANGAM COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER – a TG member from Yorkshire is having a wonderful time at Sangam where she is teaching English to children at Anand Gram Leprosy Village. She is working with children whose parents have suffered from the disease and also children from the local slum area. It is hoped that the stigma of leprosy will be eradicated as the children begin to mingle.
WAGGGS WORLD CONFERENCE – Trefoil members were in evidence at the conference held in Edinburgh recently – two aides from the 1975 World Conference were able to spend the first day of the conference with their 2011 counterparts. Other members represented the Trefoil Guild at the spectacular Opening Ceremony at the National Climbing Centre.
THINKING DAY 2012 –Packs are now available from the World Bureau – one copy of the pack will be sent to each region, if more copies are required please contact Paul Bigmore at the World Bureau, The Olave Centre, 12c Lyndhurst Road, London, NW3 5PG. Email wagggs@wagggsworld.org telephone 020 7794 1181.The Pack can be downloaded from www.wagggs.org I have received a copy which gives lots of ideas for Thinking Day – the logistics of getting it around to all the Trefoil Guilds in Scotland presents a problem!! If you do not have access to the Internet, you could ask for one to be kept in your local Guide Depot to view, before considering contacting Paul Bigmore at the World Bureau for a copy. The Pack is free of charge.
FELLOWSHIP DAY MONEY FOR 2012 – will be sent to WAGGGS to help promote Guiding in Central American countries. Any local donations should be forwarded to the Trefoil Guild Office, with cheques made payable to “The Trefoil Guild” but with Fellowship Day Fund written clearly on the back of the cheque.
INTERNATIONAL FUNDS – during the last few months donations have been given to Sister Clotilda for work on her school in a remote part of Nepal, to the Japanese Girl Scouts, to the Guides of Christchurch, New Zealand, to Kenyan Girl Guides to help Guides in the Darfur Refugee Camp. A NEW FUND FOR ALL MONEY COLLECTED FOR INTERNATIONAL USE will in future, be called the SUPPORT, DEVELOPMENT AND RELIEF FUND (SDR FUND).
